Fly XC in Valle de Bravo

Cross Country Courses

in Valle de Bravo

The main goal of the Cross Country Course is both to provide you with a solid knowledge background and to polish your skills to be able to make your own XC plans, prepare your checklist for XC flights and fly for a long time and distance both in moderate and strong conditions.

Our Cross Country Course is always a bit personalized and adjusted to the pilot level. There is a lot of theory and planning involved in an XC flight, so we typically spend a good deal of time with our students in front of their computers. In the practical section of the Cross Country Course, the whole group flies together over a pre-established route designed by the instructor, who will be guiding all the members along the way.

What makes our Cross Country Course a breakthrough in the paragliding teaching field, making it stand way above instruction programs found elsewhere, is the fact that we teach you how to make your own XC routes safely and smart. Our core objective is to teach you the basic XC planning rules so that once you finish the course, you can go home and plan your routes.

During theory lessons, our focus will be on topics such as Advanced Meteorology, P3 Flight Techniques, Advanced Dangerous Situations, Use of GPS and Instruments, and Piloting Skills.

Please be aware that, for signing up for the Course, you will need to master your thermalling skills. Otherwise, it remains pointless to enroll if you cannot climb to the top of the thermal since the group will not be able to wait for you and will have to leave you behind.

What kind of weather to expect

There is no like Valle de Bravo weather. Incredible 360 flyable days per year! IT IS JUST CRAZY GOOD!

We never cancel courses due to bad weather. There is NO bad weather in Valle de Bravo. When you book your course you can bet you will finish your training as scheduled. It really sucks when you travel to learn, and spend money, and then the weather messes it up.

In the dry season, from November to May, we organize XC courses. The best months for first-timers are November, December, January, and February. For more advanced pilots, march to May can be amazing as the ceiling is really high.

The daily temperature throughout the year is 20-33 C. Winter nights can be cold.

      Daily schedule

During the course, we try to teach you as much as you can absorb. The day is divided into practical parts and theoretical lessons. We leave early morning, in general, 8-9 AM, and in the dry season, we come back at 8 PM. We do each morning flight plan and preparations. We fly until we can, and after we do flight analysis, and flight plan for the next day, combined with the theory.

      Necessary Gear or Clothes

Warm clothes as we can go pretty high. On good days, we can reach 4000m at 0 degrees celsius (13000 feet). Sun can be strong, so Sun's cream is a good choice. Bring sunglasses.

It is important to have a drinking system for your flights as you lose a lot of water during the flights.

      You need to have:

      • Full equipment matching your level
      • SIV advanced course
      • Radio 2m (VHF)

      Preferably you will bring/have

      • Modern GPS / or cellphone with XC App (SeeYou Navigator, XCtrack)
      • SPOT/INREACH device or Live tracking app (Livetrack24)
      • We do sell xcpee if you need it
      • Computer/tablet for flight planning
